4 Tips For Maintaining Botox

Botox provides dramatic and lasting results, but it is not a permanent solution. To maintain the results of the treatment, you have to commit to maintenance. Learn more about Botox maintenance to ensure you are on the right course.

1. Maintain Skincare

It is very important that you continue to maintain your skincare regimen after your initial treatment. If you fail to keep up in this area, your results may be less than desirable or short-lived. Botox targets the muscle, however, if you do not take good care of your skin, it could lose some of its firmness. As a result, your skin could begin to sag. Although the muscle may be firm, if the skin around it is loose and sagging, you may not get the effect you expected.

2. Schedule Maintenance Treatments

Once your initial treatment is complex, your provider will sit down with you and discuss a schedule for future treatments. Whatever the plan they suggest — you will want to follow it. This schedule is often based on your desired results, the area of the body you are targeting, and how your skin reacts to the Botox, so it is a program that is best suited for your needs. Make sure you follow it closely.

3. Modify Workout Schedule

It may also be a good idea to modify your workout schedule, at least temporarily. Did you know that squinting and squeezing the muscles in your face can prevent the treatment from settling correctly? If you head straight to the gym after treatment for a session of heavy lifting, the Botox may not settle correctly. As a result, the treated area could look lumpy and unnatural. It may be a good idea to modify your schedule for a period to give the treatment time to take settle.

4. Eat a Balanced Diet

You should also make sure you eat well, as your diet can impact your Botox maintenance. Many processed and unhealthy foods can cause inflammation, and not just in the midsection. You can also experience this issue in your face. Over time, this inflammation can cause any existing wrinkles or fine lines to deepen, which can make it harder to get the results you want. Eating a balanced diet can help you avoid this sort of problem.

If you have additional questions about maintaining your results, it is always best to speak with your provider. They will be able to answer any questions you have and help guide you on your maintenance regimen.
